INDIANAPOLIS, Wednesday, May 5, 2010 – The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is bringing the spirit and anticipation of the 2010 Indianapolis 500 Mile Race to cities and towns across Indiana from May 5-15 in a 10-day blitz called the “Indianapolis 500 Hometown Tour.”
IMS representatives, 500 Festival princesses and the Indy Racing Experience two-seat IZOD IndyCar Series car will visit 18 communities during the blitz, then will make a final stop in Terre Haute, Ind., for the USAC Sprint Car “Tony Hulman Classic” race Thursday, May 27 at Terre Haute Action Track.
The mayor and/or civic leaders in each community have been invited to ride in the Indy Racing Experience’s two-seat IZOD IndyCar Series car, and citizens are invited to stop by the Indianapolis 500 Hometown Tour display for photos and giveaways.
“The citizens of Indiana have long supported the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the Hometown Tour is crisscrossing the state to thank our fans and build excitement for the 2010 Indianapolis 500,” said Jeff Belskus, president and CEO of Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation. “There are so many great storylines heading into the 2010 race, and the 100th anniversary of the ‘500’ is just around the corner.
