Excited for VERSUS

After watching a couple of the pre season offerings that have already been on VERSUS in the last couple weeks, I can tell you that I'm starting to get excited to watch the season on the new network. Admittedly, I wasn't so sure when the announcement came, but VERSUS has committed to offering tons of coverage - something we didn't exactly get from the other networks. They will air... "...more than 130 hours of IndyCar Series coverage throughout the season with a minimum of seven hours each week the network airs a race, the most ever during a race week. The programming will include four hour-long specials in March, additional programming in May surrounding the Indianapolis 500 and three-hour programming blocks on Mondays each race week that will feature flag-to-flag coverage of Firestone Indy Lights events and encores of IndyCar Series races. All IndyCar Series telecasts will be produced and available in HD." I'm especially excited about the Indy Lights coverage. I became hooked on the series a couple years ago after attending Carb Day and watching the race in person. It's really great racing with some amazing young drivers. One of the ways the series can continue its growth is by developing the Indy Lights series into something people look forward to watching in addition to the main series. NASCAR has obviously done a great job of this and its ability to transition drivers from their feeder series and instantly make them stars in the cup series (Joey Logano,Brad Keslowski, others) is one of its strongest assets as far as keeping and growing fan affinity with its drivers.
